Open Letter to these 'Filmmakers'

Dear "Movie Makers",
As a movie maker myself, and a supporter for the independent arts, I applaud all unknown film company making films, putting money, time and effort into making films that may not become mainstream, but can surely be appreciated. You guys are the exception to that rule.
As a fan of independent film, I get brought a lot of random horror films, a number of different ones by your company, The Asylum. I have yet not watched one in full because of the terrible writing, the terrible acting, and the terrible direction. This includes the horrid slaughter of "Transmorphers", which was never meant to be anything like a certain blockbuster, with animation trying to be better than it was and directions so pretentious, and plot points so *beep* stupid it actually made me stop watching a film, the first time I have done in my entire life. I didn't complain when a film I grew up with was slaughter by the rendition of "666: The Demon Child" hit my DVD player, and I was met with the greatest half assed parody (...oh i'm sorry, it wasn't a comedy?) of a certain film about a Demon child that shaped my love of horror. Even when my favourite book, "War of the Worlds" was ruined by a company trying to make a epic film failed so bad, I didn't feel the need to complain. This need has been put aside with my copies of your films, my old newspapers and old issues of empire.

I am talking about "The Terminators". Although I have yet to see this film, you are yet again taking many things that have influenced my Childhood including Terminator, and Battlestar Galactica the new Series anyway.
If you feel the need to make films, why make half arsed Mockblusters? Put your time and effort into original films with good scripts and great actors, not terrible films trying to be more epic then they are. I have seen Scifi and horror films use graphics better than you guys, with much less budget. Its small I know, but use that to your advantage. Don't have the budget? Don't pretend you do.
I'm sure you won't read this, or won't care, but i'm sure I could, and have friends who have, write better scripts then you will ever produce. "The Termintaors" was the last straw on this pissed off camels back.

I'm sure in their minds they may feel that there are some similarities but they are not getting their idea from any previous material hahaha I completely agree with you. It's ridiculous. I can't imagine them making up for the money they spent on making these laughable "Mockbusters" as you stated. Haven't heard that one before but I like it.

You know how they can turn a record profit this quarter?

Instead of making any movies, have one of their interns get a job as a bus driver and then quit after 40 minutes.

People can make any films they want. It provides work, experience and drives the industry to better itself. I doubt I will ever see this film (it sounds awful!), but could care less for those spouting diatribe against filmmakers not up to their "standards". Especially from those who are supposedly in the industry. Don't like it? Its easy - don't watch it.

Don't you see? They do NOT make movies. They turn a profit by making fake crap tailored with titles and cover art similar to anticipated films and time the release onto video for when the real picture hits theaters. Then unknowing witless idiot consumers rent and buy the latest thing they saw ads for on TV: Tranformers, I am Legend, 10,000 BC, etc. . . The list goes on. Instead they get Transmorphers, I am Omega, 100 Million BC, etc. . .

If I did not despise the scumbags doing it, I would almost be in awe of their technique. They ride the coattails of huge multimilliondollar ad campaigns without spending a cent, and millions of unthinking, lowest-common-denominator, witless, TV educated, Nincompoop Zombies line their pockets with money. Some of the brainless wonders probably even like what they see.

Asylum = Talentless Hacks/Genius scumbags.

Hey guys, I have a really great idea!

Let's all get super offended at B-movies! Like, really pissed. Then we can extol the virtues of the entertainment industry, while completely ignoring the fact that it's entire existence is the spawn of absolute hedonism and wanton profit margins. Eff yeah!

Seriously guy, if you're going to pontificate on the practice of film companies riding AAA title's coat tales into direct to dvd sales, you're barking up the wrong tree. Focus on capitalism in general and work your way up.

You seem to be completely missing the point.

I support B-Movies. Most tend to be pretty good. But every movie Asylum has done that I have seen has been poorly written, poorly acted.

What i'm saying is if you are going to make a movie, make it good, not just for profit. The hollywood system has again fallen for this, so why should indie films fall like this?

Actually my friend you seem to be missing the point.

The point being that you live in a Capitalistic society that values profit more than art, and Hollywood has been doing this before your Grandfather was even a sperm.

You're hating on the player, when in fact you should be laying your hate upon the game.

Actually, you can take your communistic rant about capitalism and shove it right up your poop chute. Nothing wrong with making money. Some ways are simply scummier than others. And being a nekulturney bastid yourself, you probably enjoy their schlockfest "flims" that could easily be the product of the Soviet Film industry.

There has also been rape going on before your granddaddy was pissing in his diapers. Does that make it alright then? In a way this is a form of rape, the rape of the art in story telling and cinematography on film. But of course that's something that somebody who defends films like this wouldn't understand
