American here, LOVE all the accents!

Just got done binge-watching all 5 seasons of BH UK, and loved it! I was a huge fan of the American version, and decided to give this one a shot too. Both have merit, and were different enough to seem like separate shows. I do love British shows like Call the Midwife, and I do so enjoy listening to the various accents. I noticed that Allison's was very similar to Chummy in CTM. Is that accurate? Also, is Tom's accent the same as what we call "cockney?" (ELL-o loov, OONG-gree ah we? lol)

I think most Americans of British descent have a fascination with the mother lands. :) Perhaps it is a racial memory. I definitely find the Scottish and Irish accents the sexiest. The English ones sound either stuffy or comical to my ears, and Welsh ones a mashup of the other 3.

For my part, I am a Texan raised in Dallas, so I have what can be described as a cultured semi-drawl, nothing at ALL like the fake ones on the show "Dallas." We do say "y'all" and "fixin to". :D

Tom isn't Cockney, his accent is from somewhere in the Midlands.

Michael Socha is from Derby; his accent is North Midlands, not dissimilar to Nottingham.

I'm the clever one; you're the potato one.

Hal's accent in this is completely different from his natural accent which is Irish. However, I suspect they didn't want another Irish vampire after Mitchell so wrote the part for an upper-class old-fashioned Englishman. Damien can obviously do various accents so it worked just fine.
