The show after the 2 original male stars left

Watching this series on Netflix, I'm in the last season.

The show took a really bad turn after the two original male leads left. The show got just silly & ridiculous. The replacement male leads couldn't compare, although Tom was certainly a cute guy, and his character sweet & innocent. Hal just didn't have the charisma of the original vampire, or the acting chops.

I like all of the cast members from the beginning until the end. As you might have read the opinions of the viewers are quite different on that matter. If I look through the threads here you will see that there are a lot of people who like the new cast a lot more than the original (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1349938/board/thread/210876306). I like both.

The same goes for the original series and the remake. I prefere the UK series, others the US series.

I think it depends on the different tastes.

And as you have mentioned Hal: I think Hal is one of the most interesting characters of the show. Series 4 was a bit rushed at the beginning, too many new characters were introduced at once and at first I did not really understand who was staying and who would be leaving. The vampires Griffin and Fergus were the same to me and too many things had happened between episode 3x08 and episode 4x01. What happened to Nina? Where is Edgar Wyndham? etc. I liked the middle and end of series 4 better and also loved series 5 and the new cast.

Btw. it is nice to hear that Being Human UK is on Netflix. :)

Agreed--I will admit I was initially hostile and wondered how the show could work with a new cast, but I really came to like the new characters as much as the originals.

I think it wouldn't have worked if they just had two new actors show up and be a random vampire and werewolf. They did a great job sketching out complex backgrounds and motivations. Like I say, I was initially quite skeptical, but they made me a real convert.

Also, I thought the acting was great, so not sure what you're talking about there, OP...

Interesting. I was a huge BH fan right from the start and I have to admit, upon first watch, I wasn't keen on the 'new' line-up... but I've been re-watching the last couple of seasons over the last couple of weeks and my opinion has changed. Really enjoyed it!

Perhaps a bit of distance from my initial watchings might have made the difference, but the uneven relationship between Tom and Hal and Alex's somewhat spiky attitude throughout just gave the show a bit of a kick... IMO.

And Phil Davis was just awesome in the fifth season...

Completely agree with the OP's opinion. I prefer the first three seasons of the British version to the American version... but season four and five of the British version was complete nonsense. Half of it seemed like the writers were not even concerned with coherent storytelling anymore. I actually didn't hate the new cast BUT I did hate the writing for them. The US version ends A LOT better and it really hurts me to say that. The UK version had such heart and they managed to lose it at some point.

the show becomes very dark. it's not really a comedy is it?
