Wow this movie took a dark turn...

Talk about a mid-movie swerve.

No one could ever accuse this film of being too formulaic, because the slow-burn towards the latter half is just mesmerizing and a very stark contrast to the early melodramatic offerings of the first half.

Just... wow.

It's such a shame we don't get these kind of films from out of America or Canada. Sadly, they're too busy being way too pretentious to take the sort of risks this movie did.

What a great film.

Yes, unlike others on this board, I much preferred the second half to the first with its almost Days of Our Lives feel. Things to take a welcome turn towards darker, edgier territory after the key conversation is overheard and recorded, though I was mystified by the fact that the whole police office of the trio, seemed to get involved (and burnt) with the insider trading tip - off.🐭

yes, my feelings exactly. The latter part of the film reminds me of "Protege", also with Daniel Wu and Jingchu Zhang, that has a similar edgy tone as well.
