They changed the main cast. Good or bad idea?

Why did they change the main cast?

Rotation. Most European actors don't like to commit for long seasons. I find Inspector Laurence and Alice Avril a delight. He's the reason that chauvinist is a French coinage, like Clouseau played straight and intelligent, and he drives the coolest car on television. Avril is adorable.

At first I thought I was a bad idea but then I watched it and I think it works ! Avril and Laurence work well together,they're a lot of fun. It's different but it's great and still very well written.
