uncharted doomed to only 3 games?

if you look at the history of naughty dog, do you think there will only be 3 unchared games?

reply

I think that all depends on how good and how successful the third game is!

reply

lol. True. But, given the success of Uncharted 2, I think it would be impossible for Uncharted 3 to fail! :)

reply

Yeah I agree with that - especially considering the huge leap of improvement they achieved between Uncharted 1 and 2. If they manage that again for 3 it'll make a fortune and they'd be crazy to not consider a 4th.

reply

although I LOVE the Uncharted series, I wouldn't mind at all if the third game was the last. I'd rather see Drake's adventures end on a high than the series possibly go downhill in the future, like for example:Tomb Raider

reply

True, the new Tomb Raider games are horrible. They never really improved the series that much after Tomb Raider 3. Fortunately, the Uncharted games are on a whole different level, and I can see them releasing a couple of more games.

The Tomb Raider series has been shuffled around to different studios over the years, therefore it has slowly declined in overall quality.
Tomb Raider: Underworld had potential, but it was the buggiest PS3 game I have ever played and had a lot of issues.

Compared to any Uncharted game, Tomb Raider looked kinda shabby.

The Uncharted franchise will remain high-quality as long as the series stays with Naughty Dog.

reply

Agree. Though I dont see Naughy Dog giving up control of thier cash cow anytime soon.

As long as the third can live up to expectations then I dont see them abandoning it anytime soon. Besides there are a coupld more places they could look for, and even items to look for that could make for some interesting backdrops.

Atlantis and the Tower of Bable come to mind. Or even the Fountain of youth.

keep these bad boys comin - loved 2!

I think that as long as the franchise is succesful we will see Nathan Drake's adventures for a long time.

The producers and writers in Uncharted have been smarter than Tomb Raider's. In Uncharted they know how to use the supernatural elements in an intelligent way, whereas in Tomb Raider they saturated them since the first game.

I think the creators of Uncharted have really benefitted from seeing how the Tomb Raider franchise lost its way and so far have managed to avoid most of the pitfalls the other has succumbed to over the years.

Personally I think the Tomb Raider games got to be more about how 'curvy' they could make Lara Croft, and there was more emphasis on the character rather than the games.

There's plenty potential for other areas of the world as well, some of the South American ruined civilisations for instance like Machu Picha (I think I spelt that right) or a tie in with the Easter Island heads, Atlantis. The idea of Shangri-La that was explored in Uncharted 2 was also done well in the PC Adventure game Lost Horizons.

I'm not going to argue with that, I think you're right about that. Far too much emphasis on Lara's physical appearance.

I still want to see a new 'Jak' game lol

But hopefully Uncharted 3 won't be the last we see of Nate. I agree about going out on a high though.

EDIT: look what I just found Naughty Dog reveals that the team is still tweaking the game's story, but one thing that can be confirmed: this isn't the last adventure for Nathan Drake. "Uncharted" was never planned as a trilogy. Thank goodness for that.

and a COKE....i'm sorted

I personally hope this isn't the last, though I'd have to see what route Uncharted 3 takes. However, I really hope they don't keep making them just to make them, as I believe eventually, the story and plot would end up becomming very repetitive and stale.

I do however hope that Uncharted 3 is their last for a while, and that Naughty Dog take a break and works on a new Jak & Daxter which would be awesome. Either that, or they work on an entirely new IP while handing over the original Jak & Daxter trilogy to another company like Sanzaru Games (they made the Sly Collection) and have them work on a Jak & Daxter Remastered Collection for the PS3 in the mean time to at least get some Jak games on the PS3.

The Uncharted series has the legs to at least go to 4 games and maybe even a 5th depending on the continued success of the series. Tomb Raider aside, the Uncharted games are pretty unique, and not in a market that is completely saturated a la First Person Shooters. The fact that Uncharted appeals to all age groups young and old helps back up the claims that the 3rd installment is gonna be huge, probably making a 4th game a no brainer for Naughty Dog....

A while back they said they will keep the Uncharted series going as long as the fans keep coming back.

So with the level of quality that they have going, it's likely that the series will keep running until Drake's grandchildren.

I heard in an interview with one of the creators that they had no reason to stop at 3 and said that they had plenty of stories about drake to tell.

You're forgetting about the obligatory kart game.
