Hated the ending (MAJOR SPOILER)

I really can't stress this enough: if you haven't seen this show all the way to the end, STOP READING NOW.

As some people may know, this is based on an interactive DVD game where at certain points the viewer must decide what choice the main character (Zwei/Reiji) will make, and those choices will determine where the story goes and what ending you get. There's three endings you can get if Reiji ends up going back to Japan with Elen (or "Eren" in the TV series).

In the Elen ending, Reiji kills Cal. If you've played the game or seen this show, you know why she's trying to kill him, and why her death's so tragic.

In the Cal ending, Elen dies but just before that she kills Scythe, in doing so bringing an end to his reign of terror and and also saving both Cal and Reiji, so her death has meaning.

In the Mio ending, Cal is still alive at the end and is still Reiji's enemy, but she kills Scythe, so she actually accomplishes something significant.

And which of the three endings do they go with in the anime? The first ending, the one I really hate, mainly just because of what happens with Cal! It's like with that outcome it would've been just as well for her to have died in that explosion two years ago. I know they wanted you to feel sad, but I'm still pissed they went with the ending that they did.

Plus everyone dies in the end. Its a pretty depressing ending.

I quite liked Cal dying. I love her character though, even if she does a major Anakin Skywalker.
The last three episodes I was almost constantly close to tears. But the very end is the stupidest thing ever. Having spent alot of time in Mongolia, it's very obvious if someone has that bloodline. Everyone could guess that Zwei was Japanese, and it should of been clear where Ein roughly came from, but they had no idea for some reason? And then Zwei getting shot. WTF? That completely clouded what to that point had been an almost flawless 11 hours (save the slight slow down at the start of the third arc.
