never write anyone off...
... not in show business, anyway. Mickey Rourke may not have been quite as "forgotten" as these guys but he certainly was considered a has-been burnout. And nobody was more gone than Jackie Earle Haley -- who went from movies like "Bad News Bears" to driving a limo in San Antonio before getting one great role (via someone who believed in him) and getting an Oscar nomination. (Anyone else have examples of major comebacks?)
Like many others have said on this board, this show definitely makes me root for these guys (just good guys, not sad cases at all) and, even if the situation is staged, if we're feeling this way, I'm sure others are too. Whether it will happen or not, it certainly CAN happen.
(One other note... Personally, I don't think these guys have lost "fame" at all, as the hosts keep saying; folks all seem to know at least three of them, if not all. I think what they want is "work", not paparazzi shots in a magazine, and that's very different -- or at least it was in pre-Paris Hilton Hollywood ).
