I'm a bit bored with the comments about how improbable this movie is.
This is movie is 'ENTERTAINMENT" - a movie made from a play that was probably astory/book before that. If you want to study Judiasm, find a Shul and a congenial Rabbi. don't look to popular entertainment to teach you the facts; "Wholly Moses", Mel Brooks got there first.
As a matter of fact, I've been led to look into and learn about things and ceremonies that I've gotten to the age of 68 being vaguely aware of, but without a real interest in knowing - until this movie piqued my curiosity. I'll probably never become even a Reformed Jew from this movie, but I now know more about Judiasm (I was raised Catholic; we are still Jewish-derivates; Jesus Christ lived as a Jewish man and his body died as one) than I ever did.
Just because this movie was entertaining and made the subject more accessible and interesting.
