Someone tell me about Olivia in Season 1

I never watched it. What's the beef between Olivia and Whitney? Why is Olivia pegged as the bad guy?

The "beef" between Olivia & Whitney comes from when they both were at DVF & they were supposed to pull an outfit for Jessica Alba for an Elle cover shoot. Olivia pulled an outfit & Whitney pulled an outfit. The outfit Whitney chose was used on the cover & when Elle had a party for DVF celebrating the cover, Joe Zee asked Olivia who pulled the outfit & Olivia took credit for pulling the outfit when she did NOT like the outfit in the 1st place. Ever since then, there's been tension between Whitney & Olivia. But the way Olivia is towards Erin is the way Olivia was towards Whitney in the 1st season. She seems to think she's better than everyone she works with.

^^^Yes, you are right...but I think the beef started way before then. When Whitney moved to NYC, Olivia treated her like some country bumpkin who didn't know anything. Olivia also tried to make Whitney her pet project by inviting her to rooftop dinners, dishing out unwanted relationship advice that made Whitney seem like a clingy and needy chick, trying to decide for her where to find an apt, taking her to events like the Manolo Blahnik shoe signing at Bergdorf's, etc, and Whitney was having none of it. When Whitney's friends would have a problem, she would try to ask for Olivia's advice, but the bitch would say something like "I don't want to hear this. It's too much information. You're 23, you're not in high school anymore" and basically make Whitney feel stupid. Olivia would complain to her cousin, Nevan (who's not on the show anymore), that Whitney doesn't listen to her advice. Giving advice is one thing, but doing it in a condensending way and belittling someone else is another.

Before the climax that was the Elle cover shoot, Whitney and Olivia had a confrontation when Olivia set up a gig for Jay (Whitney's then boyfriend) and at the concert, Olivia and Nevan sat in the back making fun of Jay and his band/songs. Jay got pissed and walked out. The next day, Whitney confronted Olivia about it and the latter tried to justify her actions and said Jay was being incredibly immature. There were daggers in Whitney's eyes and it was then that she stopped trusting Olivia and took what she said with a grain of salt. The straw that broke the camel's back was the Elle cover incident that happened a couple of months later.

Thanks for the detail. In Season 2, I didn't think Olivia was that bad. But I only watched the first few episodes. But in this season you can tell she's sneaky.

No...she TRIES to be sneaky & fails miserably! That's why everyone gets on her ass about stuff. I thought it was funny when Erin saw the recording of what Olivia felt was sooo important that she had to miss Whit's shoot & interview & just told the editor to scrap it! If it had been as important as Olivia made it out to be, the interview would have been so much better & a lot longer!

I don't really like Olivia that much but I recently saw that episode and had to admit that was something I agreed on though. They ARE acting like high school kids instead of grown women, not that Olivia is much better since she pretends she's so mature when she's not.

Just got secretly engaged to the best guy ever!!

I love how Whitney is such a sweetheart but she needs to get a backbone and stand up for herself. I'm glad she finally told Olivia off in the last episode.

"Kelly is such a good influence on Whit. "

Agreed. It's funny because when I found out the Whitney was going to be working for Kelly I was really worried because the first time I heard about Kelly was on an episode of True Life: I'm going to fashion week. One of the girls on the show worked for Kelly and Kelly was absolutely HORRIBLE. I think the girl was shown a little bit on the first season of The City. lol. I was like wow, Kelly's going to eat Whitney alive. But I'm glad that she's taken Whit under her wing and has really helped get her fashion line started. It seems like she's starting to take Roxy under her wing as well, but I can't help but think that there is going to be some major drama between Roxy and Kelly later on.

Its so funny how someone so unprofessional and unintelligent can be an accessories editor at Elle magazine. You may as well just get a 15 year old to do her job. But really I hate Olivia because she doesn't deserve anything shes gotten.

And I have a feeling to the above poster concerning the whole Kelly and Roxy maybe drama, that it may involve that photographer she started to see.
