Did I Miss Something? Erin/JR/Duncan

I found myself re-watching season 1 recently, and I feel like I've either missed something or this made absolutely no sense.

Erin (not Erin from Elle, but the one that was Whit's friend in the first season), is in a long-distance relationship with Duncan. Then her ex, JR, shows up and it's apparent they still like each other. After some drama, Erin tells JR that they shouldn't hang out any more because she's dating Duncan. Then she and Duncan break up because it's obvious she still likes JR....and then we never see or hear from JR ever again. WHY? The only reason she stopped seeing JR was because of Duncan, so when she and Duncan break up, why doesn't she ever see JR again? And if she truly didn't want to see JR anymore, then what was the point of breaking up with Duncan? Am I going crazy, or did this make no sense?!

I also found it weird that she totally disappeared in season 2. Nobody even talked about her.

Yeah it was weird. The love triangle did seem to be some sort of contrived storyline created for the show. There was zero chemistry between Erin from season 1 and JR. She had far more chemistry with Duncan.

From what I heard Erin did not like Whitney (apparently they had some sort of falling out) and that's why she disappeared from the show without a trace. In fact, it's strange how they replaced half the cast from season 1 going into season 2. We had the other Erin and Roxy, along with Olivia and Kelly joining Whitney on her adventures and everyone else left! Weird!
