My review.
Got it on DVD yesterday:
It's basically a movie about Leslie Van Houten (google her) who was one of Charles Manson's "family". It takes us through her life, how she meets him, the murders, and the trial. Kristen Hager (the blonde in Alien Vs Predator: Requiem) is unrecognizable as Leslie and delivers a great performance for her age.
It was a very interesting film to watch with a lot of bizarre and weird sequences, great directing shots, and lots of cool scene transitions (there's a lot of them). The film really looked like a film from the 70's. The opening credits and music were some of the best I've seen in an independent film. But yeah, it really does look like a 70's flick. Kudos to how they made it look so authentic.
It wasn't really a gory film, but there was a very gory moment in the vein of Hostel 2. It involved lots of full frontal nudity, rubbing body parts, violent sex, and naked women covered in blood. The last shot of the movie was f-cked up too and very weird -- reminiscent of Sleepaway Camp. I also thought the home invasion murder scene they showed was quite disturbing and uncomfortable to watch. I dunno...the cold-hearted torture got to me, lol.
All the actors were mostly unknown, but delivered great performances. The dude who played Charles Manson was effin' good and gave a chilling and spot-on performance.
I'd definitely recommend this one. An independent film which is actually very worthy. A solid 7/10.
Anyone else see this?
