A dreadful mess

I was really turned off by this boring, derivative, confusing, nonsensical mess of a movie that doesn't have an ounce of originality while pretending that it's loaded with the stuff. You've seen this same kind of movie (dysfunctional family, etc.) many times before. It's also an alleged comedy that, in my opinion, didn't have a hearty laugh in its entire 100-minute length.

This movie has been panned everywhere. The HIGHEST rank Metacritic gave it was 40 per cent, which is not even a mediocre score. The IMDb rating of 5.2 is most generous indeed. I felt embarrassed for Timothy Spall. He's a superb actor, and I can't understand why he would take this on. The script must have looked very good in print.
