Tonight was Absolutely Ridiculous

I just can't believe the way the show is being run.
I hate how India is jipped out of having two excellent soloists by having them compete against each other. Was there really no better scoring method?
And Ireland's group loss was a real dissapointment. I must say it must be karma though for the Irish judge giving the Argentinian soloist a ten!
Finally, what is up with South Africa? Really? I understand they were not the best performances, but in now way should they have gotten those low scores. I was especially upset by Russia's three.
I hate the judging. Obviously the judges are voting lower for countries/contestants that threaten to boot their own country out from the standing. It should be more objective overall.
And the whole "dance off, groovaloo-shaolin monk showdown"? Wth!! It was about ONE minute of edited dance moves. Nothing like advertised. Certainly not a real dance off.

Any other thoughts?

I'm not being funny, but.......

Ugh, I'm so upset that I can't even think of an intelligent post. Ugh. Just ugh.

I agree with every single thing you've said.
In addition, I don't understand how or why dancers are chosen. How is it that a country can "replace" their soloist (e.g., Ireland) or duet (e.g., Russia)? Were Anya and Pasha, the REAL ballroom couple, just the quarterfinal duet so that Russia can send in their Vegas magicians for the semis?
Nothing against either Ireland or Russia, both countries I VERY MUCH prefer over ANYTHING Australia has done. ANYTHING. That group they've sent is complete and utter *beep* How 5 out of 6 judges chose their sloppy rolling and atrocious knee-pads over the power and precision of the Irish step dancers (in front of Michael Flatley, no less) I will never understand. They were robbed. At least Flatley handled it graciously, and it was cute when he put his arm around that Australian guy and said "you're probably half-Irish anyway."

I agree with you on the dance off that wasn't a dance off... that was a total cheat of what they seemed to be advertising.

As for the rest of the night? Maybe this will make me unpopular here (especially with this being my first post here), but I'm not all that upset about Ireland not being in the competition anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Irish step dancing, I'm still a huge fan of Riverdance (though I prefer Colin Dunne over Michael Flatley, in fact I was recently introduced to Colin Dunne and Jean Butler's "Dancing on Dangerous Ground", which I love too). But the fact that Ireland was constantly doing pieces from Lord of the Dance I just found to be really annoying. Having watched Lord of the Dance several times, each week I kept getting frustrated to see them doing stuff that I've already seen before - if I wanted to watch Lord of the Dance, then I'd have popped in my dvd of Feet of Flames.

When the show was announced, I was hoping to see 'new' Irish dancing, see them do something that hasn't been done before, or at least not as widely seen as Lord of the Dance has been. So... yeah, not much disappointment here on that front. Hope I made sense.

What really, really upset me was the scores the judges gave the Indian solo dancer Mythili Prakash. Absolutely ignorant on their part. She was solid and flawless in both performances, and IMO better than Amrapali. Her style is more complicated and technical, and very precise.

I hope Amrapali keeps her momentum going and stays on as long as possible; she's definitely more audience/judge friendly since her style is more engaging.

It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you.
