Question: Why Is Lisbeth So Constantly Cold To Mikael?

I don't get it. She seems to be able to warm up to other people. And yet she's almost intentionally unfriendly to the guy.

because she was, for the first time in her life, in love with someone during the events of "men who hate women". She opened up for the first time, and he responded as he always does with women: he is not in love with them, only has a good time.
She got hurt and she never wanted him to know that she was in love with him

- "It was"

...i would say that she keeps her distance with almost everyone. In "The Girl Who Played With Fire", she disappears for a year or more from all friends and acquaintances. Her lover, Miriam Wu, expresses some surprise and frustration when Lisbeth comes back out of nowhere and asks for sex. Her employer at Milton Security also mentions the same kind of frustration in "The Girl Who Played With Fire" as well.

She thought maybe he was someone she could get close to (aftar all they slept togethar at least twice). Rember at the end of Dragon Tatoo, she bought him a nice leathar jacket, but saw that he had gone back to his old girlfriend, and threw it away. In her mind, anothar rejection, and she didn’t want anything to do with him again until circumstances forced her to. To be fair, when she first came to sleep with him, he told her it was probably a bad idea. In his mind, she was a ‘friend with benefits’. He still cared for her, but not in the way she anticipated.
