The most boring movie i have ever seen

really, stay away from this one.. it has the regular cast of super worthless swedish actors (90% of our actors stink something fierce)and is nothing but a fat collection of badly filmed scenes. And it doesnt have action scenes, it has one execution scene and a small bar brawl involving an automatic pistol. Know that good feeling you get after seeing a really good movie, imagine that feeling completely reversed and you get Luftslottet som sprängdes.

Read the book ;)

Indeed, read the book. There's no action in that one as well, it's supose to be that way. It's a drama, not an action movie.

Don't listen to this jerk - movie was great!

reply

The OP's probably complaining because there wasn't enough tit n ass in the film, or car chases and explosions, or mind numbing rap music. Friggin' douchebag.

i'm mad because there wasn't any hornets in the movie. lol.

reply

No it wasn't, it was extremely dull, compared to the first film, whether it was the original or the recent remake.

reply

If that was the most boring movie you have ever seen, you must have the attention span of a gnat.

reply

I'm not a big fan of this movie but when your complaints are that it's not enough action then you just sound like an idiot that doesn't understand that this is not an action movie. I think the slow tempo and the dialouge filled story is an interesting way to conclude this trilogy. Too bad the dialouge and story is rather bland. Lisbet Salander is still one of the strongest most interesting characters I've seen in a long time, can't save the movie though.

yeah I agree leaves me curious on what movies this bored person has seen on enjoyed. ? Oh well. I liked it a lot.

Likes movies, taken away, but thoughtfull

Hey, dude. Swedish actors aren't that bad. Trust me, I wouldn't heap any undue praise on any stupid Swede, but you guys do have some decent actors over there.

reply

I thought this movie was the best of the three. The dialogue could have been better and the man who played Niedermann was worthless, but I enjoyed it very much. Noomi Rapace was excellent as she has been throughout all of the movies, and I enjoyed the doctor at the hospital (is he credited?). Several other of the actors were fine (Christer Malm & Malin Erickson for example).

Plus the film & production quality was great! -- much better than the first two.

Yes, he is credited as Jonsson. He was played by Aksel Morisse.

Like what? I personally liked the first movie best but you've mentioned a few times that the you consider the third one best. Could you write more about why you think it was better than the first one?

**spoilers**

I like the first movie just about as well. So I think we are pretty close on opinions.

When I say the film quality is better, what I mean is the picture content is clearer. The film quality in the first two films is grainy. It is almost like they used TV quality eqipment to film the first two movies, but film quality equipment to film the third. This has nothing to do with the content or the acting -- simply the budget put into the film. (BTW, I just watched the second film again, and the picture quality is better than I remembered -- it's just that the subtitles are so bad, that I have to spend most of the time reading instead of watching. My personal favorite is after the shooting at Bjurman's cottage, the newscaster says, "A 35-year old man was shot dead today. His condition is not considered to be critical, and he is expected to recover." Many of the other subtitles use English words, but the sentence structure is wrong; others actually have the Swedish words, and I have to figure them out in context.)

In all cases, I read the book first -- so I am a little biased. I thought this movie kept the meat of the plot while trimming away the fat better than the first two. For instance, they cut out Mikael's extra romance (thanks!) and they cut out the entire Erika changing jobs. Instead they incorporated the disturbing e-mails into the main plot -- which I thought was clever. All of the movies had details missing which I would have thought helpful. I am also biased because I thought the third book was the best of the trio. The biggest reason is that the overall plot was a pleasant surprise. It is difficult to make the third book of a series refershing. This book was not at all what I expected, or wanted -- which was great!

The first movie changed a lot of details from the book which were distracting. Not much so -- but enough that I thought the first movie was not as quite as good as the third. (For example, Anita's dead?-- how was that flower shipped from Hong Kong?) Plus in the first book, I felt Mikael & Lisbeth were equals as investigators -- Lisbeth with her computer skills and memory, Mikael with his ability to dig one step further and in putting the pieces together. Their skills complemented each other making them a great team. This equality was missing from the movie. Once Lisbeth joined the investigation, Mikael did little.

Instead, the Hornets' Nest movies gives those who read the book a little insight into the story, without distracting from the main story. For instance, if you read the book, you understand Annika's strategy into the uber-punk look of Lisbeth. But if you haven't read the book, you haven't lost anything.

My $0.02

seriously people, its not worth replying to someone who starts a thread like this.

Well I kind of agree and found it a bit boring. I enjoyed the first, the second was okay but this was a bit overstretched with a lot of dialogue and little tension. Reminded me of a few other Scandiniavan TV like movies I have seen. I dont understand why its classified as a thriller??? Its a pure drama. There was not one thrill in the whole movie.

Don't confuse the thriller genre with action movies. Just about any spy movie will be classified as a thriller -- even if it is more cerebral than action oriented. It is the intrigue and the drama that puts it into the "thriller" genre.

I'm not sure who came up with this title for the genre, but that's the classification this movie belongs in. The original thriller is said to be "The Odyssey.

"Thrillers are mostly characterised by an atmosphere of menace, violence, crime and murder by showing society as dark, corrupt and dangerous, though they often feature a happy ending in which the villains are killed or arrested." from Wikipedia.

I found this movie very disappointing. After all of the great energy and chemistry in the first film and all of the action in the second film, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest comes to a grinding halt. Here is the overall premise: Take the dynamic and stylish Lisbeth, put her in a hospital gown and keep her locked in a room for the first 2/3rds of the film. Then, for the last 1/3rd, spike her hair, put put her in a courtroom, and re-hash all of the information that we already knew from the first 2 movies. There is absolutely no new information or plot. Finally, take all of the sexual and professional tension between the 2 main characters and toss it out the window by making sure that they share absolutely no screen time together. It is a shame because as soon as I finished the 1st film, I could not wait to see how the trilogy would end. They do a nice job tying up all of the lose ends and there is a bit of charm at the end of the film. But, overall a snooze-fest.

In a way, this is part of the reason I enjoyed the movie & book -- it was completely different from what I expected (& hoped for), but it was entertaining nonetheless. I had looked forward to the chemistry of the main characters which is basically nonexistent in this movie. Instead there is political and psychological drama which I found interesting. It takes off on a completely different tangent than I wanted -- which was a surprising pleasure.

My $0.02 anyway.

Excellent breakdown. I could not agree more! This was like some typical made for television boring movie, while the first one was edgy and engaging. This was pure schlock.

Yea it really is a downward spiral into tv movie land for this trilogy.
Watch the girl with the dragon tatoo and stop there, the rest is just not good at all.

It seems you want films to be in a fixed format. There must be high-octane action scenes with stunt doubles throwing themselves around, car chases and no end of Hollywood excitement. In that case, I suggest you read the reviews before you set out for the cinema and stay away from thoughtful films like this in the future. Here's my take on it: http://opionator.wordpress.com/2010/10/26/the-girl-who-kicked-the-horn ets-nest/

Overrated crap, just like the abysmal Beck movies.. and i never said i expected it to be an action movie, it was a reply to an earlier posting stating the movie had action-scenes.

reply

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When you refer to Beck, do you mean the Japanese anime and its live action movie version? That's about a rock band and not supposed to have an action movie in the shoot 'em up mode. Or is it Beck - De gesloten kamer based on the novel by Sjöwall and Wahlöö? I suppose a locked-room murder mystery is a bit tame.

reply

This film is an overrated crap, the story is very silly as well and poorly thought out. It's ok for simple people I guess.

It is fun and games until someone gets caught. Then it's rape.
