A few questions about TGG

1) I'm watching the movie now, and I have read the book, but I can't remember if there was a reason, either given or just implied, that Daisy was happy with her marriage after she came back from the honeymoon. Was it just that she decided to live with the fact that she was going to be with Tom or was she just acting happy or what?

2) Did Nick end up renting the room at the house next to Gatsby just by chance or had Gatsby pulled some strings to make sure Nick got that place so he (Gatsby) could make friends with him? Gatsby must have known Nick was Daisy's cousin when he sent him the invitation to the party but did he know who Nick was before Nick moved next to him?

3) In the very beginning, Nick (as the narrator) says they all drank too much at that time (he doesn't just say people were drinking to much but he says "We all drank too much"). Then later in the book, when he is going with Tom to party with the mistress, Nick mentions that he has only been drunk twice in his life (Not just up to the point where he parties with Tom but through his entire life up to narrating the story). Is there some way this isn't a contraction?

1) She wanted the money and his name. The fact that she discovered he was a womanizer still wasn't enough to make her leave. Nor that he hit her. That incident with Myrtle wasn't a one time deal. Daisy makes a point of saying Tom bruised her at that weird dinner with Nick.

2) From what I recall, Nick's friend made all the arrangements for the house. So Gatsby would have no way of knowing that Nick was related to Daisy. He found out later.

3) Nick is liar. We can't trust a thing that comes out of his mouth. So everything in the book is a bit suspect.

For the last question, what he said was 'i was only ever drunk twice in my life' .thay doesnt mean he didnt drink

For the third question, he had only been drunk one other time up until that point, then that afternoon was the second time. After that, countless times.
