How could Daisy not know?

Gatsby had been throwing these extravagant parties, some that even Daisy's best friend Jordan had been to and he and his wealth was in the newspaper so how was Daisy not aware of him? I find that so strange that she had no clue as to who he was and that he lived in New York.
