A serious lack of Jazz music, old sport

That's a good way of pointing it; like an alternate universe version of the roaring twenties. Although by all accounts over-the-top indulgence and ritz was what the twenties were all about.

The soundtrack, on the surface, does not seem like it should have worked as well as it did but the music was strangely appropriate. Somehow the square peg fit into the round hole.
