why hasn't Adam do any more challenges?

the most I enjoyed about the show is watching Adam take up those challenges. but lately, he hasn't done them anymore. anyone know why??

reply

are you referring to new episodes? there is supposed to be a new season and i saw a promo for the show while watching re-runs and it had scenes from what looks like new eps but it just said "Mand V. Food coming up next".

My weight only stirs the ground

How long do you think he can continue abusing his body like that? I know people have wondered about the effects of such binge eating on his health, and the public response has always been that he is fine, but seriously--the enormous amounts of fat and cholesterol he consumes are certainly not good for him.

reply

I agree. I'm surprised people haven't notice how much weight he's gain by doing this show. He was always chubby but he's looking downright morbidly obese now. He stop doing those challenges for health reasons plain and simple. He should just come right out and say that.

my guess is his doctor told he couldn't anymore

reply

You'd think he would be ok if he ate sensibly the rest of the time and got in plenty of exercise.

reply

he doesn't eat like that everyday, only for the show which is only for a couple months of the year.

Holes? Or opportunity caves?

reply

i can't think why he would give up a tried and true successful concept to go with this questionable and risky unknown unless there was an important reason. so i am leaning toward it's a health thing. he may only do it a couple of months a year but he may have developed some kind of health problem that prevents him from that kind of over doing at all

"Oh Penny, it's as if the Cheesecake Factory is run by witches"

reply

Even though on the travel channel website he said it has nothing to do with health issues I personally think it does. It has to take a toll on your body after doing 59 challenges

reply

yeah something sure is up and his health would be the most obvious. hopefully he comes back to it

Actually, I read an interview that he did after season 1. He has a shooting schedule of about 7 months per year. He may not be doing challenges every day during that time, but he's pretty much on the go for a large chunk out of the year. It's pretty hard to stick to proper eating habits when your job revolves around eating junk for almost two-thirds of the year. So, I definitely agree that there were probably some health related issues attached to his not doing the challenges anymore. At least if he's not doing those, he can afford to go to the other restaurants and just take enough bites to get the shot. He doesn't have to gorge himself unless he absolutely wants to.

How is it hard to still to proper meals when you're on the go? Every place has salads and lighter meal options. It's not that hard. Even going to the store and buying frozen veggies and making a stir fry is plausible. Even the lower end hotels come with fully equipped rooms (microwaves/fridges) now.

I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves.

reply

Some may think that, but it's not the case. He claims he eats normally otherwise and that he works out, blah, blah, blah...but it's still not healthy. Even if his off show regimen is true, it's not working to counter the ill effects of the tremendous binge eating. Just look at his great weight gain as proof! Hey, I love Adam and I have enjoyed the show tremendously, but to try and say he can offset this type of eating with off season discipline is pure BS.

reply

The thing is that even tho he's not doing any more challenges he looks fatter than ever on the latest episodes! So if he's really trying to lose weight clearly he isn't doing a very good job...

reply

You're right. Despite the fact he isn't doing the challenges anymore, he still looks bloated and overweight.

reply

If your referring to Man v. Food : The carnivore chronicles where it just shows your the diners and restaurants he visits, this isn't technically a new series, it is a recap of previous series showing him go to the places without showing the challenges, and usually extra places he goes in the same areas, that don't make it into the show, or just showing more of the places, when he returns in season 4, he will be back on with the challenges.

Have patience and you can see him stuff him self silly soon enough :D

But it is nice to have full episodes just showing quality food and not just quantity to break up the time between seasons

reply

Jack, a new season (not called Man vs. Food, but called Man vs. Food Nation) has been airing this summer. Adam no longer does the challenges. He still samples the food, but now he trains a different local person every week who does the challenge at the end. It's still fun, but it was better when Adam did the challenges. And yeah, it is weird that he is not getting any thinner as the new episodes progress. He has to be eating bad outside of the show; there's no other explanation.

reply

i agree with an earlier post that he doesn't eat like that everyday BUT eating massive amounts of food in a limited time frame could cause tears or rupture in the digestive tract

"Life didn't pass me by....IT SAT ON MY HEAD!!!!! - Al Bundy

reply

There are many ways to perforate the digestive tract (cause a hole). Overeating doesn't appear to be one according to the different medical references I checked.

Yes, my thought, as well. His Doc told him to cool it, and he listened. Hence, less challenges.

i figured as much but it still sucks to know for sure. i saw on Twitter a couple weeks back that he has a new show coming out but wouldn't divulge any details

We were also wondering why he doesn't do them anymore

reply

The only way he could counter the eating he does throughout the year would be to do a
regimen like Tom Hanks did for CastAway, and train with the guy who got Thomas Jayne
ready for Punisher. His heaviest meal IIRC was somewhere near 21,000 calories so i can say
I have no issues with my weekly seafood platter now Mmmm.

reply

don't know where he's going but "season 3 part 2" which has 17 eps, he doesn't do any challenges. season 4 it's him coaching. i highly doupt he'll be back for new challenges.

let's all just enjoy the joy he's given us during his travels. if he starts up again, great, but let's be thankfull he took us on that journey.

reply

Not only did he get fat, but his skin looked bad and his eyes looked sunken. Not to mention he has a terrible personality. I do like seeing people tear up some big and spicy foods.
