local accents

Just saw the first trailers. Why oh why go through all the trouble of filming in such a beautiful location with all the great buildings and have the actors sound like they live in Anytown, California. Fairhaven is on the EAST COAST about 40 minutes drive south of Boston. My dad is from Fairhaven and talks nothing like that. I lived there for a number of years and can tell you the actors in this movie (judging by that trailer) sound like where I'm currently living...Arizona.

I agree. Hollywood usually does a horrendous job with east coast accents. In The Perfect Storm they did try, but a few of the characters were speaking with sort of a Maine/Southern/Irish accent. Dont know how the directors or producers allow this.
PS - a 40 minute drive from Boston? Man you drive fast!

"Don't get cagey Miss Isringhausen" Al Swearingen

Well if these characters don't sound like your dad does then they clearly need to be informed of how off the mark they were. Because as everyone knows, the entire population of MA sounds like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.

I was born and raised in Harvard Square (aka Haavaahd Yaahd), though I have a nondescript accent. A lot of my friends don't have accents either. You realize not everyone talks like that, right?

"You realize not everyone talks like that, right?"

But some do (more than not), and from what I've seen of the trailer, none of the actors do. I'm about to watch the actual movie and I'll report back.
