No Real Nats

Although I did enjoy the movie, and so did my husband & daughter, I was very disappointed about a number of things. If they took the time & effort to actually shoot a scene at Nationals Park, why didn't they use any real Nationals in the ballpark or locker room or party scenes? Ryan Zimmerman is no A-Rod or Derek Jeter as far as recognition nationally, but he is attractive, personable, and used to the camera as well as an all-star, a Golden Glove winner, twice Silver Slugger, and 8th in the NL MVP voting. A few real Nats pitchers on the bench with Wilson in the bullpen scene would have been great. Tyler Clippard, for one, is nice looking, and Steven Strasberg is beoming very recognizable. I think it would have added to the realism of the movie. Adam Dunn, "Pudge" Rodriguez, and a few others would have been good.

The movie was definitely too long, and there should have been some reference to Owen Wilson's performance. He should have come home at least once saying he won or he lost. Road trips are usually at least a week at a time. And a good girl friend of a player would go to home games or at least watch them on television.

I'm guessing any real Nats who saw the script just said "Hell NO" when offered. If so, good call on their part.

A lot of them don't need the money (Zimm, Dunn, Strasberg), but I'm sure a few of the others (Lannan, Clippard, Nyjer Morgan, etc) could have used it.

I don't think they were even at Nats Park. The only scene with them at the field in the bullpen looks like a blue screen background anyway. And why not? They didn't run on the field or use any additional players for game action. It wasn't like they needed to actually use the field.
