Doesn't pass the James Bond test?

When I have suggested that James Bond must white because the character is white, I am often told that Bond is a fictional character so changing his race is acceptable , but changing the race of a historical wouldn't be acceptable.

So where are the "Bond should be black" folks on this casting?

How about the "an actor can't play something they are not" folks (like the ones who opposed Halle and Scarlet playing trans people)?

This case I would make the whole cast black. More interesting and less trendy.
