In order to keep the series fresh, it need to shed some old bonds. (Unpopular OP time)

I didn't hate this movie, BUT IT DEFINITELY WASN'T GOOD LORE, and it was incredibly safe. I think in order for The Terminator franchise to survive they need to drop tired old ass Arnold, the time travel angle, and stop recycling the plot of the first two films. And please stop screwing over John Connor, i mean why so much hate around a character that's one of the pillars of the gotdamn franchise??!! I also want a gritty military science fiction Terminator sequel, They need to explore the actual war, i think it's been a back drop long enough. ....PLEASE.

I fell asleep...never a good sign cuz the first two were great and i loved them
I think they should just stop already

Maybe they can repurpose Arnold? Perhaps the original Terminator was modeled on a real life character in the post apocalyptic future and Arnold can be him. It can really refresh his role in the franchise as well as appease the nostalgic fans. They pay just as much at the box office...okay, some get the senior discount....

>>appease the nostalgic fans

NEIN, NEIN, NEIN! No more superficial nostalgia, please, that's what makes sequels (in general sense) bad. Instead of keeping the essentials of what made the original good, they just rip off some popular elements and make a fan service out of them.
Arnold was a great cast for the T1 and 2, but was he really the crucial element? I say no!
As for the box office bux, I think the title itself will attract just enough of the old fans.

They need to start over. Total reboot. Write a clean synopsis for a whole series of films and work out all the all twists and time travel loops ahead of time.

First thing I would change is multiple Terminators get sent back all at once to multiple past time lines, all picked as key points to guaranteeing victory. Future timeline is the framework for the whole saga as we're introduced and battle different Terminators who are then sent into the past where we see how their actions playout. Ripples effect events in the future timelines. The whole thing is nuts.
