Warning: over rated and not as funny as they say
Don't believe the hype. Australia hasn't dished up a madcap stoner romp since Bad Boy Bubby. And this slapstick farce is no exception. It's about as feel-good as dipping your nuts in honey and dangling them over an ants nest.
In fact it's so unfunny, many people I spoke after the screening where completely unaware that it's meant to be a black comedy.
They just didn't get the joke.
Why you ask? Momentum.
About the only really laugh out loud moment was when Delilah got walloped by a passing car. The set-up took over an hour. By which time half the audience had already left. And the other half were asleep.
PRO TIP
Mr Warwick Thornton, I know you're reading this: before you start work on the sequel: brush up your comedic timing. Write, rewrite, edit, throw out, start again. Make every second count.
Take a hard look at the genre classics like Cheech & Chong, Harold & Kumar, and Bill & Ted. They succeeded. You failed.
There's a lesson there.
