**Spoilers** GREAT Homage to many fine action flics **Spoilers**

***Spoilers*** Go watch the movie then come back!

Okay, so I saw a lot of references to great and classic action flics. I'm guessing there are more that I didn't see and hopefully others can help identify any that I missed.

Notables included:
1) Killer Bean orders a Tequila and tonic and mixes it in the same style as "Tequila" from Hardboiled (John Woo).

2) The plot point of having turned on the Agency because they found out the truth is definitely a nod of the hat to Wanted (Timur Bekmambetov).

3) The cop, Cromwell, requesting "everyone!" as backup is a clear nod to Leon (Luc Besson).

4) A lot of the slow action shots and stop camera shots of course originated with the Matrix (Wachowski bros.).

5) Jet Bean is clearly Jet Li and his whole style is an homage to many of Jet Li's movies. Especially note his exaggerated strength and wire-fu style when he attacks.

---------------

That's where I stop being sure... I feel like there could be more but they are tentative at best.

6) Being confident enough to sit with your back to the door, and being smart enough to sit with your back to the wall facing the door, is probably pretty common, but it does remind me specifically of Malcolm X (Spike Lee) and the scene where he's being taught the ropes of running numbers and being a gangster.

7) The whole cop/killer relationship is reminiscent of both Hardboiled and The Killer (John Woo).

8) I feel like there's some Western reference I'm missing about the bar scene.

and maybe more?? I'll come back and check up on this thread occasionally as more people see the movie, and hopefully I'll find some more references (and maybe movies I haven't seen? ...nah!).

The first thing I noticed was that the guns Killer were using were a major homage to what Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) used in Face/Off.

I did notice all the Matrix style action sequences, I even thought that Vagen reminded me of Morpheus sometimes.

Also during the shootout scene in the warehouse scene between Killer and Vagen, I thought of Most Wanted. But that might only be me.

I could see the John Woo nods here and there as well.

I think this was a greatly done animated film, and all the action film references made it even greater!

We're police officers! We're not trained to handle this kind of violence!

Cappuccino using the baseball bat on his guys reminded me of a memorable scene from The Untouchables =]

Noticed quite a few wrestling moves at the end when he was battling with jack bean

The Mexican standoff during the bar scene was very Tarantino-esque - Reservoir Dogs sprang to mind immediately. It was also quite drawn out, another Tarantino trait.

nice thread :)

i felt a matrix reference was missing: in the original videos, he did that slow-mo dodging scene, and it was awesome. i was sure that would pop up again in the last scene VS Jet Bean...but it didn't...

the whole movie reminded me of Mission Impossible 2 or 3, cause the "hero" just keeps geting fired at by trained professionals and heavy machine guns, and keeps getting out of it unharmed. although i hated that in MI, here it was just normal :)

although this is obviously incorrect, the title reminds me of Kill Bill.
