the slap scene

am i the only one who's really uncomfortable with the slap scene? it makes me feel angry, awkward, and even embarrassed. and not only because of what happens in the scene, but also how the scene is written and directed. it's really pathetic to see your main character getting slapped in the face in front of his two sons and a friend of his son (who just beat the crap out of a bully by the way). god, make him get punched, roundhouse kicked, but not slapped, for christ sake. the scene was too humiliating for me, and it didn't made the point it was trying to make, so it just killed the movie for me.
