Real life Nokas question.

Does anybody know how many rounds of ammunition was used during the real robbery?
I heard rumors that over a 1000 rounds was used. But rumors are rumors..
Anyways, looking forward to see the movie. The robbery was very fascinating in its execution, tho it had a tragic outcome.

you're 100% wrong. There were only two police officers who shot at the robbers. If they should have fired 200 rounds on the robbers using only their revolvers that would have been a sight to be seen. In reality they fired 20 shots (Håland fired 17, his partner 3). The robbers fired over 100 shots at trying to break the window. I don't know how many they fired at the police, but I'm guessing they fired more then 20.

reply

Yes, various sources confirm it being 20 shots.
The robbers though...that's more uncertain.

Oh, and check out these links(in Norwegian):

Shoot straight, you bastards - don't make a mess of it!

"mostly because the norwegian police dont have a clue on how to handle a weapon. "

Just because they don't walk around with it. Doesn't mean they can't handle it. And the force train with guns all the time mate. Know the facts before stating them.

reply

Surely they didnt go around with revolvers in 2004? I know the Norwegian police in the field isn't armed all the time like here in Sweden but they can't have been walking around with revolvers can they? It takes ages to reload and has significantly lower ammunition capacity than a pistol.

reply

Revolvers have been the standard side arm for Norwegian police, stupid yes. I've read somewhere they are now switching to pistols .

reply

You are correct, the Norwegian police are switching to the HK P30L-pistol.

From watching the film it was Erik Haland who took the first shots (he looked
kinda 'triggerhappy' in the film). And from that moment on it ascalates.

reply

Actually the film doesn't show who fired the first shot. You hear a bang without seeing where it came from. Then after that we see Håland fire his revolver at the robbers. It has been disputed who fired the first shot, and because of this the director didn't want to show any of them taking the first shot, which is why we hear the first BANG but don't see where it's from. Speaking of Håland, yes, he was like a regular Butch Cassidy the way he was running around, but firing a REVOLVER against a bunch of guys with assault rifles, that takes some sort of balls.
