not a waste...

one of those 1am or 2am friday night/saturday morning films you might take a look at because a) there's nothing else on that peaks the curiosity, or b) the alternative is sleep.
:-)

not a waste, though, despite practically everything else posted about it here on this message board...
in fact, another illustration of one of the tenets of my philosophy of film(viewing): every movie has some redeeming feature or characteristic.

1. estella warren - has never looked better...curvier, "filled out", older (because as it happens, many beautiful girls/young women look better in their 30s or even 40s)...and she has a singing voice, too (though the music & lyrics for the songs are pretty bland and cliched).
2. billy zane - seems to have had fun with some of the over-the-top bits of his role; and being used to appearing in low budget and straight-to-video movies, he also seems pretty comfortable hamming it up in this one.
3. the story is genre-derivative but - as i posted on another board a few days ago - these canadian productions always add a peculiarly regional twist (intentionally or otherwise) or turn on your expectations. in the case of this movie, it adds up to some instances of funny dark comedy.

so, let it be known...there are people who like this film...

or at least don't consider it a total waste :-)

It wasn't a total waste..... If you make it to the twist at the end. Billy Zane(zaney as I call him) IMO has aged really badly. So he looks ridiculous trying to play parts where women are clamoring after him. No matter who. This movie was kind of a bad play on Diabolique, but they tried.

I agree with your observations. I enjoyed this as well and thought Billy looked great!

It seemed more like a comedy to me from the performances.
