End of the show.

I've been doing some speculating and it seems to me that the end of the last special left it pretty open to what could happen in this movie. Do you really think the show is going to end? It could really just be hype. What are your thoughts?

This Franchise should NOT die... Yet. It doesn't take rocket appliances to figure that out. But if it sadly did end, Atotoso - I %$#%!$!% Atotoso!!!

How is it anything like a hollywood movie? It's only being played in Canada. Seasons 6&7 we're still hilarious and ridiculous like the others. You're analogy blows.

You can't say they weren't completely not funny and ridiculous. They had great episodes. Your "hollywood movie" analogy still blows.

Honestly I would take seasons 1-4 and 6 over 5 and 7 any day. The first few episodes of 5 are great, but then the hash driveway just ruins it. The premise is so outlandishly stupid that not even Ricky would have come up with it. The hash would have never lasted stored in such a manner. The show lost any believability it had when they pulled out the hash driveway. Season 6-and yes you can certainly tell that the cinematography has changed--was at least more believable than the boys ruining perfectly good hash hiding it as a driveway. Season 7 is just a travesty for the most part.

Actually it's even worse than a hollywood movie. It's a Canadian carbon copy of a hollywood movie. Watching TPB seasons 6&7 is almost like watching an entirely different show. The entire essence disappeared after season 5, and even then you could tell it was transforming as it made more money and got more popular.

There are some quotes from the actors, namely the actors that play Corey and Trevor, that agree with these sentiments, actually, this is one of the main reasons they left the show.

In conclusion, you're clueless.

they make very little profit compared to other series

Um, no. It debuted in Hollywood like 3 weeks ago. The Big Dirty also had a Hollywood premier. After The Big Dirty, the camera work on the show completely changed, as they used HD television cameras instead of handled cams, and they used more cut shots and different angles.

I would not say Clattenberg sold out, because they still haven't made a tonne of money, but they definitely changed and it was detrimental to the series.

What needs to be defined in this thread is "Selling out" ...

Why this show hasn't sold out ...

Still shot in the Canada, with original cast ...
Still basically the same premise as the principles matured
Hasn't been bought out by American television
Hasn't been dumbed down for American television
Still has moments of amazingly funny comedy and imaginative plot twists

Why this show has sold out ...

I wouldn't use the term "sold out" but more like "run its course"
How many times can Leahy go from sober to drunk in 60 seconds. It's funny, yeah, Dunsworth is brilliant ... but it's played out. How many times can Randy and Leahy break up? How many more schemes can Julian concoct? Everything been done and redone. There isn't much more ground to cover unles you keep going over the same ground over and over again (that actually sounds like Ricky)

I think Clattenburg knew this back in season five ... tried the feature length movie, did some different things with the series ... to some degree successful but as the business model of this show grew ... it outgrew its spontaneity and uninhibited humor ... and became more and more predictable ...

Actually the show has had two send offs now ... and I wouldn't doubt ten years down the road another reunion but ... it's done. There's nothing else to explore with it.

It's kind of like a person who did something fantastic at age twenty ... but now at age forty is just a shadow of their former self. You can't go back and complaining they're not 20 anymore is stupid, it's just part of life.

reelmake..... you're a *beep* idiot. Plain and simple.

reply

Well, you were wrong realmake....another movie on the way and season 8 of the show.

reply

The show is over. Countdown to Liquor Day is the last thing they will ever produce. It's totally done.

Your analogy blows.

He sold out because he used HD in the last season?

I agree that the last seasons made me lose interest, and the first movie was mainly a rehash in order to sum up the show in a movie that may reach new audiences, but nothing new for fans, but this new movie is a return to the Season 1-4 that I loved and it's the best thing I could've hoped for. See this movie!

reply

Uh, if he sold out why wouldn't he keep his most popular work going to make more money? Why give up something successful?

reply

Because oftentimes, people get tired and want to try new things. They can't just keep doing TPB for the next 20 years.

reply

Also it's totally obvious that the franchise lost it's integrity some time ago. The new movie is trash, and the producers probably realized that even the mindless fanboys would figure that out soon, I'm glad they ended it before they made TPB into something even worse, if that's actually possible.

reply

Well, I haven't seen it yet, and I'm going to. I've seen everything else, including the black & white pilot episode as well as 'The Cart Boy'.

If its ending is as sucky as 'Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys', I'm gonna be pissed.
