I really wanted to like it...

...but I'm not sure what I thought of it. The chronic laughter track didn't seem to hit the right spots. The show could probably have dispensed with it completely but I imagine they researched all that. Martin Clunes wasn't bad at all. I will probably watch again if I can stop being distracted by the gang of laughing hyenas who pee themselves over someone throwing a magazine in a waste paper bin for example.

... but didn't.

It failed in so many ways. I too will watch it because of Martin Clunes and a love for the original but I fear my disappointment will only grow.

I loved the original and really liked the first installment in this remake, think it has been cast excellently and could prove to be that rarest of creature a remake that can stand on its own two feet...

Yeah that's me, never seen the original but enjoyed this. I'm sure I'll end up picking up the original series now as well.

Fast Eddy summed it up "This was more about a mildly frustrated man being mildly amusing."

It's a massive shame, because David Nobbs original was pure genius.

Incidentally, I think that David Mitchell would have been a better choice of Reggie.
