Why were the Ronin sentenced to die with honor?

I have recently watched 47 Ronin again though still do not
understand as to why the samurai master had sentenced the
group to die? It was not really explained so will anybody
please provide an answer for me?

The 47 were not "sentenced" to die, they were allowed to die by their own hands rather than be executed like common criminals. To the Samurai culture there was a vast difference.

They disobeyed the Shogun's orders. By definition , that is treason in the feudal Japan. It is one of the highest dishonors a samurai can bring on himself. However, at the same time, the disobedience was an act of loyalty to their Lord, which is one of their highest virtues. The Shogun recognized that all they did was according to the highest ideals of their Bushido code. SO while they had to be punished for breaking his law, he allowed them to be honored in death.
