Gillian Anderson + Ethan Hawke

I always said those two would make a great screen couple. I don't know the story in detail... Those of you who do: Do you think that their characters will have any screen time together at all?

You saved the world, Scully. -- Yeah... You're right, I did.

My initial assumption is that they won't. However, the very fact that Ahab's wife is given some attention in the series (come on, would Gillian Anderson, a formidable actress, agree to appear in one meaningless scene?) suggests that this adaptation will differ from the novel. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. :)

The cast for this project is absolutely amazing, by the way.

Well, on her website she said that it was great to work on Moby Dick and she also mentions Ethan, so I guess that they somehow worked together, too.

THe only reason to watch this movie is Gillian Anderson.

btw, best on screen couple = mulder +scully. they completed eachother in that role, and the actors were so well chosen, they looked great together.

Not if it follows the original novel, the 1956 film version, or the 1998 miniseries. There aren't any women in any of them.

"Moby Dick" is not a love story. It is the story of an obsessed, vengeful sea captain who causes the deaths of nearly all of his crew because he wants to kill the great white whale that tore off his leg, and he doesn't care what he has to do to accomplish what he wants.

I take your points, but a woman in the film doesn't mean that they turned it into a love story. Maybe they created a new subplot around Ahab's wife (which I assume is not a character from the book) dealing with what happens at home while he hunting Moby Dick or whatever.

I will only watch it for Gillian and I think her presence in the mainly male cast has also this goal to atrackt a different audience. I believe though her character is there mainly to give a better profile of who Ahab is.
