in spite of there being an integrated prom

claim they are not racist???

there was an integrated prom, but they felt the need to have the white prom anyway
and they say this is not about race.

I loved how the lawyer for the racists said they didnt want the cameras anywhere near the white prom because they didnt want to be seen as racist LOL

well then I guess you shouldnt organize an ALL WHITE PROM.

I loved how he said that it was a prom where all the people attending just "happened to be white"

like that was a coincidence

I did like the positive message of this film though
that something like this can happen in a sh*thole like mississippi

cause theyre ignorant retards. they wanted an all white prom but they didnt want any cameras or newspeople there, cause they knew what they were doing was wrong.

Do you really think it's fair to characterize the entire state of Mississippi in that way? There are people with unpopular attitudes in every state and country around the globe; that doesn't make them all s***holes.

Even racist people say they're not racist.

It would have been interesting if at least one of the parents running the "whites only" prom (or fighting the integrated one) could've explained themselves on camera, so they didn't appear to be some faceless, perpetually off-screen force, but it wasn't to be.

As they said, my guess is a part of them knew it was wrong and they were too embarassed to defend their position.

Just take some comfort in knowing the kids we saw appeared to be smarter than many of the generation before them.

that "happened to be white" line was my favorite part of the film.

"WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW, huh?! WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW!"

When Whites organize along racial lines, you consider it "hate" and "racism", yet if Blacks or other nonwhites do the same, you have no problem with it? Give me a break!
