They really mishandled the hotel scene

I really liked the movie up to the hotel scene. You can debate what should or shouldn't have occurred but regardless I think the way that scene progressed and played out was really mishandled and unrealistic given everything that occurred up to that point.

At the most basic level, how would they have possibly showed up without a six pack or some tequila shots. Every scene in the movie was liberally bathed in a soothing dose of alcohol but when it comes time to get naked they're sober?! Yeah right.

And these guys were extremely affectionate and down right flirtatious whenever they're together but turn into frigid, logs unable to even put together a realistic kiss. It just all seemed unbelievable and unrealistic to me that they were so unable to even get to square one.

I was surprised that they didn´t have any alcohol in the hotel room to ´losen them up´
I thought maybe they should have had some drinks, felt a little more relaxed then taken a shower together instead of clothes off then on then off.
Maybe some drinks, a shower and some touching would have helped the situation.
They went out the hotel scene all wrong IMO.

If it harms none, do what thou wilt.

That's an interesting point that I never considered but it does sort of make sense. With just the two of them it feels like a romantic encounter. Someone else there to shoot may have helped it to feel more like a straight up film exercise. Still, I think the bigger mistake in terms of continuity with the rest of the film was the lack of alcohol, which they had been slurping down the whole time.
