Expectations for remakes are idiotic..

..because it's the thousands of personal directorial choices and minutiae details of a Director that makes his labour of love what it is, what made the original Arthur what it was, and yet people believe a concept alone should make a great hour and a half movie, like it's an easy 3 step recipe you can borrow and whip up. The only time a remake could surpass or equal the original is when coincidentally you have another great director/writer team up, which again has nothing to do with the concept of a movie, whether its remaking Arthur or the Electric Boogaloo.
