Question About Dating in Afghanistan

From watching this documentary I could see that some of the Afghan women are quite attractive despite their living conditions, etc. But most of the time, all you can see is just their eyes (sometimes not even that). How do men decide who they want to date when the women's bodies are totally covered up and all you can see is their eyes and hands? I know physical attraction isn't all there is to a relationship but I'd think almost all the women look the same when they're all covered up like that.

You think that a young man and a young woman are allowed to be alone together on a DATE? This is a culture that is still arranging marriages and still charging a "bride price," among other things. When I was there, occasionally a boy would see a girl out shopping (veiled properly) and slip her his phone number; then they would talk on the phone. Teens weren't allowed to congregate at the local cinema or roller rink, either -- sexes were separate in every area of their lives. Mostly the men have lives outside their homes away from their families; women do not.
