Depp to narrate

It's been confirmed that Johnny Depp will record a revised narration, replacing DiCillo's temporary and not very well received efforts. DiCillo announced this on Saturday when the documentary screened in Berlin. Depp will start his recording within the next few weeks. No word yet on when his version will be screened.

what im wondering is how long til the general public will see this?

I guess it already showed at a festival in LA and next up is at woodstock: http://www.twentyfourbit.com/post/178562287/johnny-depp-narrated-doors -doc-to-screen-at-woodstock

I bet with Depp on-board it will get at least a solid DVD release in the next couple months...

I bet we don't see this till late 2010 as The Doors are notorious for dragging the last cent out of things and will try to get a cinema release for this before a DVD release.
Good that JD is narrator but only a radical rethink of the narrative which from what I heard was pretty poor early on will do him justice.
DiCillo's fact checker Doors wise is not doing their job as there are apparently some howlers that may sound cool to the new generation of fans but are complete horsesh#t.
Will get the chance to see it at it's UK premiere in a couple of weeks so will find out for myself.
Should be interesting regardless.

Depp was perfect as narator as his voice is similar to Jimbo's.

I thought it was pretty cool to hear Depp reciting the same William Blake poetry that he recited in Dead Man. (Or was that only on the Dead Man soundtrack? I'm not sure which...)

I felt the same, especially during some of the longer monologues. It was just like he was reading it rather than describing it. Bit disappointed with ol' Johnny.

Couldn't agree more. Depp's narration was very boring, and the writing was terrible. The footage was brilliant though; I'd rather Di Cillo left it all intact or silent.

Johnny Depp is credited here as the narrator but I didn't see him listed in the actual film credits when I watched it today.

Go take a step outside - see what's shaking in the real world.
