Will they make Casualty 1910?

Does anyone know if there are plans for another series?

I was so sad last night when the last episode finished. I can't think of another programme I have enjoyed as much as this one in the last ten years or so. I couldn't think of a thing to criticise about it! There is very little my husband and I watch on TV these days, and yet we both sat and watched this intently from start to finish. What a refreshing change from all the reality crap and celebrity game shows etc. It shows the BBC are still as capable of making great drama as they were 20-30 years ago.

Please make another series BBC!

It'll be nice to see the romance between Ethel and Milais resolved. Yes, I'm a diehard romantic!

I really want them to make a Casaulty 1910, I'm really hoping they will cause I love the romance between Ethel and Millais, and I was a little disappointed at the end of the last episode that nothing more was mentioned or shown about them.

I have the DVD and I've been watching the episode where Ethel's brother dies, and I love the scene at the end between them, so yeah I would really love them to make 1910. Also anyone know why they've not made a 1908, it seems odd to me that they've made 1906, 1907 and 1909 but no 1908.

I'm going to buy the DVD soon. Like you I hope they will continue the story of Ethel and Millais and yes, what did happen to 1908?

Millais and Ethel married in real life. Millais went out to Shanghai and Ethel went to join him. Bryn Higgins was the producer and director of Casualty 1907 made a discovery that required him to rewrite part of the script. He was able to trace the history of the Culpin family and discovered a daughter who was 94 and a grandaughter. Through this discovery he found out that not only did Millais and Ethel marry but that Ethel had kept a diary of her time at the London Hospital. Bryn was given access to this diary. I found this information on the Royal London Hospital League website.

Thanks for that info.
Don't forget Casualty 1907 is on tonight (BBC4).
Just after it is a factual drama, the Story of Penicillin. Look's good.

Thanks for that information Nicola, I've been dying to know what happened between Milias and Etherl but had no idea where to look. Do you know where I can get any information on the other doctors and nurses?

reply

I really doubt that another series is going to be made, They are selling the sets off for this film so you can buy the waiting rooms, offices and wards plus the operating theatre with fully functioning taps!

There would be very little different between 1909 and 1910 in Hospital architecture so it seems yet again that someone in the BBC is about to boost their ego by culling another series so one of their own ideas can be propagated.

Any news yet on if they're doing another?
I'm missing it tonight I typed Wednesday's 1907 and watched that but I want to know where they're going next!

Let's hope Casualty 1910 is in the offing!

What a fantastic series it has been - I cannot remember a time when I have enjoyed something on television as much as I have this. So well written, so well acted and yes, a refreshing change from the norm that graces our screens.

More BBC, more!

Gobbydobby - I second everything you have said!

The BBC have in their wisdom decided not to commission another series of Casualty 190*:( If anyone would like to comment on this or join in the petition to have more of this fantastic series see the new ‘More Casualty 1909’ facebook page the existence of... which I will also be highlighting to the BBC.

You never know it might help to encourage the BBC to reconsider!

I can't believe it! The first decent series to come out in years and they cancel it. They'd prefer to produce more reality crap, tasteless talent shows and all the rest of the pleb fodder. Ugh!!!

That's it -- I have officially decided to despise the BBC.

I am so anoyed! I know it's expensive to make but I as desperate for another series. BBC definately in my bad books (though I can't really despise them, seeing as the only 3 programmes I bother to watch every week - mad men, Charlie Brooker's screenwipe/newswipe and being human are all shown on it).

I really wish they'd wrapped up the Millais/Ethel storyline now.

I agree! I just recently found this show based on recommendations from iTunes' store. I was rating Lark Rise to Candleford (which I adore) and "bumped" into London Hospital...I love the show. As an American, I'm an original fan of the fictional medical show Grey's Anatomy, but I have been turned off from the show since about season 4. The show has become far too centered around drama and the character's love lives, each week is an update of who's sleeping with who. It's gotten so far away from Medicine being the central focus. London is the complete opposite, the writing, directing and script is great and the romance or personal live of the nurses and doctors are sub-plots and tasteful. I hope they reconsider and bring the show back.

American TV could learn a lot from the English. "Reality" TV is crap, easy work for lazy, un-creative & talent-less writers/directors/producers.
