Call for Miss Jones.

This was about as funny as cold sick, though Horne's long overdue nude scene was, as people keep pointing out, its one bright spot. When the second series is commissioned - remember BBC 3 are contractually obliged to commission further series of weak 'sketch comedies' - maybe Ruth Jones should be drafted in as a co-contributor. If this is an example of James Corden's skill at writing comedy, it would seem that the only funny bits in 'Gavin and Stacey' were down to her. Bring back the wrongly maligned 'Roman's Empire' - Nicholas Burns was always getting his kit off in that and it showed Matthew Horne off to far better advantage. Good theme tune, good cast.

That's the way the cogs turn for the BBC nowadays. They just love to commission family-friendly watered-down $hit that doesn't even make true comedy lovers crack so much as a smile, instead it just makes up wince in pain and agony leaving us to answer the much heard question "What else is on?". British comedy was some of the best in the world, it's just sad that comedy icons like Morecambe and Wise and Ronnie Barker are no longer on this earth, they provided classic humour that will live with fans forever, but no in this overly-PC Noughties we can't afford to offend the namby-pamby bum-brains that wouldn't know what a comedy show was if came up and bit their noses off!!! I take your point about Mat Horne being funny on his own, I haven't seen anything on his own but I'll take your word for it. James Corden is just a completely unfunny, arrogant cocky little lard-pile and relishes in his own hype and creates lackluste comedy shows that just make you stare at the telly with a blank look on your face, and at the end of the day the only humour any show written by him will ever get from me is laughs of sarcasm.

no it's not sad, it's a good thing they are no longer with us...at least they never lived long enough to have to see it...at least their classics can stay classic...without having that inevitable cameo appearance in such mind numbingly dull "comedy" shows such as this.

You've got a point there. But I suppose they'd be within their power to speak out agianst how rubbish they think the show is and refuse to make a cameo appearance in any comedy show they thought was terrible, but some of them only do them to look a good sport anyway, If I was a comedian and I was asked to appear in a crappy unfunny sitcom/sketch show I'd refuse!!!

How do you know that its James Corden that has bad writing skills, it could just be that Mathew Horne decided to take control and write most of it. He wasn't very funny in Gavin and Stacey the only funny people were James and Ruth (and Alison and Rob) so maybe, its Horne thats not funny, not Corden.
