If you had to pick the winner of the gold?

I think Kaylie deserved the gold! I was always rooting for Payson but I don't know this season made me doubt her dedication.

I am happy that they finally made Lauren likable this season too.

Who would you pick?

reply

I could see Kaylie taking a gold medal on vault. I agree about Payson. Payson of season 3 was not the same character as Payson from Seasons 1 and 2. She was willing to throw it all away for Rigo, and I didn't like the fact that he was so willing to let her. He had no problem with her skipping workouts or breaking the rules to see him, changing her floor routine in complete defiance of her coach at his suggestion, sleeping with him despite vowing that she wouldn't do that before London. Season 3 Payson's top priority was Rigo; not gymnastics. She may be going to the Olympics, but I'm not convinced she would have medaled individually.

reply

well, I disagree. Changing her routine because as she said she wouldnt have medal playing it safe was the old payson, but yes she was all about Rico, but was she really skipping workouts to see him? she skipped that workout for Lauren thats about it, but we also saw her do the most after sessions workouts.

but yes. If anyone won the all around gold it was either going to be Kaylie or the chinese girl. If I had to guess how it would play out:

Team USA wins Gold

All Around- Kaylie, Gold

Vault- Kaylie, Gold
Jordan, Silver (does the Lay-out Jordan)

Floor- Payson, Gold
Kaylie, Bronze

Bars- Jordan, Gold

Beam- Lauren, Gold

reply

Genji cho of China wins gold easily. She stays focused, especially after losing at worlds, whereas our team has been losing focus.

reply

Colleen Evans would win gold. lolz

reply

All Around - Kaylie

Vault - Emily Kmetko for sweden, (she had the baby came back, and does the vault with baby in hand, and lands on one foot, no she just came back on another team)

Uneven Bars- Jordan (Triple Back, nailed it, on her second pass)

Beam - the queen; Lauren (although it would be karmic if somehow she got silver)

Floor - Payson not only does she do the salsa but she does two power passes, Old School Payson style, all or nothing, but reinjures her back, not enough to lay her up in the hospital but enough that she can walk or jog, never do hardcore gymnastics or really even too much artistic gymnastics again, but it's okay because her and Rigo become the new Golden Couple, and make so much off endorsements to afford an awesome lifestyle for their son and daughter, and all the girls get together at each other's houses at least once a month.

I completely agree. I have been Team Payson since the start, but now I find her undeserving. I feel Kaylie would deserve it. It'd be a nice full-circle, wouldn't it? Remember when she became the National Champion, everyone had assumed that if Payson hadn't fallen, she would've taken it so nobody really gave Kaylie credit for her win. Now, competing against Payson, and she'd still take the gold? Would've been a nice ending to me, actually.

I'd say Kaylie deserves the gold. I totally agree with you about Payson. It seemed like winning the gold was second on her list, with Rigo being first on her list obviously.
I was also glad that Lauren was made likable this season, along with KP. KP actually became my second favorite (after Kaylie).

reply

I was always rooting for Payson to win the All Around Gold but this season made me question how dedicated she really was to the sport. She was still an amazing gymnast and there's no doubt that she's talented and deserves to go to London, but I think Kaylie deserves the All Around Gold more than her.

I think Jordan sneaks in and wins AA with Kayle silver.. Payson wont medal with that floor or any other medal. If she makes it and doesn't let Rigo or whatever his name get her into trouble.

I think either Jordan or Payson will get the All-Around Gold. Naming the character "Jordan," it kinda seems obvious that the writers were likening her to Jordyn Weiber, the current World All-Around Champion. Not only that but I think she has the talent and dedication to do it. Then maybe Payson or Kaylie would get the silver

In another scenario, I can see Payson getting the gold. Even though her character has changed this season, I see it as positive character development. If she had stayed the same extremely focused on gymnastics girl all 3 seasons, there wouldn't have been any character growth. This season, she showed she is mature and confident enough to go after what she wants, whether it be a boy or a gold medal. I think she will apply that same determination towards winning the gold. And since her boyfriend fully supports in that, I think it's a win-win situation for her. So, if Payson gets the gold, either Jordan or Kaylie for the silver.

I agree with what pretty much everyone else here said. I've been rooting for Payson from day one but this season she has been undedicated. So with what we've seen thus far I'd be fine with Kaylie winning AA Gold, but I'd prefer that Payson would beat Jordan (even though Jordan is technically better and such), mainly cause I don't like Jordan too much :P

lol that's how I feel about Jordan as well. I mean, yes, I understand why she acted the way she acted but a little part of me keeps thinking that they are/were making it that Jordan would get the AA Gold by how much development in skills they gave her and I'm just pissed off about that because I don't want some random chick who came in freaking 8 episodes ago to steal the AA Gold from one of our girls.

That being said, I hope the AA Final has Kaylie and Jordan/Colleen or Kaylie and Payson competing and in both scenarios, I want Kaylie to win Gold. I'd like Jordan/Coleen to just miss medalling by a small margin in the first scenario but I'd like Payson to win Bronze in the second scenario.

I would like Lauren to win an individual gold medal for the beam...

reply

I don't want Lauren to win an individual medal on beam ... not just because I dislike her character lol) but because its just not realistic at all. Two days before Trials, she was doing a watered down version of her beam routine not even on a regular beam and just because she can do her routine only getting 4 spikes in her heart with her first time running through a routine. It was stupid because she'd just be a liability to the team.

I would have much rather seen a Lauren becomes an alternate and had them go the Chellsie Memmel route or Lauren doesn't get on the team at all and have them go the Alicia Sacramone route.

As for what everyone has said about Jordan, yes technically on bars she's amazing, she has her triple back dismount and blah blah blah and I'm assuming she's good on vault because of the Layout Jordan named after her. But we've only ever seen her do bars so how are we supposed to know that she's solid enough on all four events to compete in the All Around?

I'd much rather have Kaylie win the gold and be competing in the All Around with either Colleen or Payson.

Well, Jordan was the highest qualifier to the Olympic team, and I doubt they would give that honor to a specialist. She placed ahead of both Payson and Kaylie in the qualifiers, and they are both All-Arounders, so that implies she's an All-Arounder as well. I think she could win the gold!

reply

Well, Jordan was the highest qualifier to the Olympic team
Yes that's true but how do we know that isn't mostly because of her triple back dismount? (Showing that her bars are impressive but not everything). Plus, Marcus even told Coach Mac that they were only letting Kaylie compete to appease her friends/teammates so how do we know that a lot of the NGO didn't already have that in the back of their minds when they were picking the team?

Jordan is like Emily, someone who hadn't competed in a while or had any serious training/coach/etc. for a while and they don't know if she would perform like that every time or if this was just a fluke.

Maybe Kaylie and Jordan could both go the AA finals but I don't want it to be Jordan who wins, I want it to be Kaylie who gets the Gold. We've known Jordan for like 8 episodes and she's only been likeable for like 1 and a half episodes. Its not fair to the girls we've seen for 3 years.

while payson didnt seem as dedicated as she was before (let's face it, before she was a machine!) but the girl gets crucified for having a boyfriend and seen as completely undedicated, but everyone wants kaylie to win for being more deserving even though she was dating austin in the same vein? logic fail.

jordan seemed the strongest of the bunch. all i know is that i wanted lauren to take gold on beam. payson seemed to take over from kaylie as being strongest on the floor supposedly, even though i think the chorey on the floor in the finale was pretty weak (but i liked the concept of the latin influence in her routine, reminded me a little of lauren mitchel with the shimmies and such), but i'd much prefer jordan or payson winning overall and kaylie going back to making the floor her domain.

At the same time, Kaylie and Austin were together for quite a bit of Season 2, as were her and Carter in Season 1. Kaylie is good at juggling more than one thing at once. It seemed like every moment this season, Payson spent it talking with Rigo. Plus, you didn't see Kaylie going out with her boyfriend two nights before OLYMPIC Trials and going to a club.

but she went to the club to improve her routine, so that she could go to Olympics. I'm happy that she found Rigo. Rigo has supported her, every step of the way, helped her get to a doctor to save Lauren's Olympic dream, and gave her great advice. Since when is believing in the person that you're with, even if the NGO and the coach and the OTC, a crime. I would hope to have a partner that believes I am just as good if not better then any of my competitors and support me, and even save some of my friends in the process. She didn't even miss anything, and the one time she was late, it was for Lauren not Rigo.

reply

Payson, all the way.

reply

Kaylie. I usually would say Payson but this past season, she had become so unfocused and basically was really only good for floor and that's just about it. Whereas they've shown Kaylie developing from being a total ham on floor to being able to be good at the tumbling on floor as well as bars, beam and vault.

I disagree with almost everyone on the board. I don't believe Kaylie deserved to be the National champion or to win gold at the Olympics. You all are talking about how Payson doesn't seem as dedicated in season 3, but are you for getting in seasons 1 and 2 when Kaylie kept throwing Her weight around as "National champion", abandoned Her team over the drama with Her ex-boyfriend and Lauren, treated Her win like a dog and pony show and wasn't serious about it, or when She let Kelly parker throw Her off and She fell flat or Her back? Not to mention the many times She has acted ungrateful, immature, and did not display the qualities of a team leader? She if anything did not have the personality or heart of a champion and was a weak leader at the rock.

Payson was driven, determined, and came back from a career ending back injuring. She reinvented Herself and started from the bottom in a whole new style, and never gave up. Over all Payson was the most mature, and level headed gymnast at the rock, and has had the eye of the tiger since day one, and dreamed of nothing else but being champion. As for season 3, I would expect that pay would change slightly, or else She would be a static boring character. Having Rigo in Her life was actually good for Her, and it's not like She gave up Her career for Him.

Emily I would say, was the least deserving, and undedicated one out of all the girls. She wasn't teachable, made many mistakes that could have cost Her a career, and could be a hardheaded, pompous, idiot at times.

Overall I feel that Payson even after Her injury was the best gymnast and the best role model at the rock, the other girls could have never made a comeback like She did nor could they have handled the pressure of being "demoted" and starting from scratch after years of hard work.

Also, I do not think had Payson fell that Kaylie would have won. It was clear that both Payson and Kelly were ahead of the others and the top two contenders for National champion. Kaylie and the other girls weren't even the main focus of the night until the accident.
