How does this compare to the US version?

Yeah, I think the australian show was vastly superior. It felt far less scripted, it was far less obvious how the extras were paid actors and a lot better at the fake documentary style, and the general approach was much better, they didn't tell you what they were going to review ahead of time, they always waited until the end to tell you which made it sort of a fun guessing game when it wasn't obvious.
