very disturbing

i found it to be extremely twisted and horrid, speciallly the last scene,it just so depressing and so disturbing, anyone can take a bit of gore and violance, but this psychological torture of man's breaking point, really really sends a ominious message

I completely agree. This movie actually got to me because it touched on what freaks me out the most: seemingly regular people doing unspeakably evil acts. I can't believe the low rating it has. The acting was solid and the pacing really worked. The ending also worked for me.

reply

yeah the ending really shocked me,the brutality of it

reply

Pacing? Watch the movie again, the timeline is non existant. Acting? Not so hot.

I will give you the ending is horrifying, but its obvious that this film was made with the intent on being one of those that everyone says "is so gross." They should have paid attention to the storyline better.

reply

@ Punkatheart: by pacing, I meant that I was never bored through it and I never felt that a scene was pointless. The movie took its time to build relationships, which made me more invested in the outcomes of all the characters that were presented. That's a pretty rare thing for horror flicks made recently. Ultimately, I bought that these could be real people in real situations. Even the reactions at the end rang true because of the convincing build-up. I think the storyline and the focus on character development throughout is what makes the ending so effective. The movie gives you a false sense of security by allowing the true horror to only take place at the very end.

OMG, Seriously?!

I mean, I'm not trying to udermine your opinion, but it's just amazing how people have different tastes and perceive thing differently.

I thought this movie had the WORST pace I have seen in a long time, half the scenes in the first hour were highly discardable or could at least have been cut in half. And all the "relationship building" was very bad in making us connect with the caracthers, as it made me care only for Abby.

The movie has a good idea, very poorly executed.. It's stuck between a teenager high school drama and an atempt at suspense/gore (not to mention obvious plot holes, like lack of neighbours or police, or teenagers who never work but have a *beep* of money).

One of the worst movie.

"One of the worst movie."

How do you manage to write such an argumented review ?

reply

lol. great comment mate, great comment. [/sarcasm]

If you found this film disturbing then you are lucky to have kept yourself sensitive and innocent to even less than half of the disturbing things out there.

reply

It was certainly shocking to say the least. Ive seen a lot of horror films, psychological thrillers etc and have to say it was just more the crueleness of the ending.

This comment doesn't even deserve a response. ;)

I think the most disturbing part of this movie was the Stephen character's hair & beard. Was that a wig? Or some sort of weird comb-over? Why was the center of his mustache missing? Was he was growing out the sides but shaving the center so he looked like a monkey from planet of the apes? Most distracting/weirdest looking actor I've seen in a while

reply

bahahahah I thought he was cute, but the weird 'stache did throw me off a bit.

I agree completely. I probably reacted even stronger than you even.
Personally I felt physically ill, angry and in despair all at the same time. I felt violated. I wish I could unsee this movie.

I watch a ridiculous amount of movies and this is the only one I feel strongly that it should be banned and the makers of this film should undergo deep psychological evaluation, if not institutionalization.

I'm not against violence in movies and I absolutely don't think every movie should have a happy ending, but watching this was just a traumatic experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.

reply

This movie was far from perfect , everyone should agree with that.
the only thing thats saved the movie was the last 15 mins which like the OP left me pretty disturbed.

reply

I agree. I felt ill, sad, depressed and angry. Wish I could go back 24 hours and not watch this film. Bizarre thing is, if I met Clive Barker I think we'd really get on. Fascination of horror, and so forth.

"Hey! Ladies! That was fun!"
