more beautiful girl, abby or cheryl?

who is more beautiful?

reply

I personally didn't care for the painted one. Cheryl.

reply

Old thread, but I'm throwing my two cents in! I thought Abby was more beautiful, mostly because of her amazing birthmark :)

are you being sarcastic?

reply

No I'm totally serious!! I honestly think her birthmark is really unique and beautiful, and that she is just in general a beautiful girl :)

reply

i wholeheartedly agree. her birthmark makes her really beautiful, it's just beautiful looking to me. and yeah she has a really beautiful face. it's weird how in the movie she was seen as ugly by a lot of people. that's sad. i felt sorry for her as i watched her and she felt down about the way people treated her because of her birthmark.

reply

Definitely! I think she definitely showed how in our culture we claim to value individuality, but people just fixate on anything that makes you different and ignore the rest of you. It also annoyed me that even though Stephen was friends with her he viewed her in such a platonic way he never noticed she had a huge crush on him, which I feel like is because her birthmark.

I wanted Stephen to end up with Abby and was annoyed he went after Cheryl. I think that's why he never noticed Abby's infatuation with him; he was too busy chasing after the wrong woman that he never saw what was right in front of him.

I did love how when Abby stripped for him, his eyes wandered down once, but that was more to see how much of the birthmark covered her body. It was definitely not a lustful look and I liked that because he was showing her respect.

He didn't have that kind of feelings for abby. You don't choose who you fall in love with, and he doesn't owe her to go out with her or love her that way. Women get friendzoned, too.

reply

Defintely, she was way more sexy. Her face is beautiful and her birthmark had such a unique color to it.I like all kinds of girls mixed with beautiful personalities. It amazes me that hardly any americans or at least my friends did'nt believe me that in other cultures being overweight is considered extremely attractive.I had an obese friend go to japan with me and he got so many girls it was'nt even funny.Im talking beautiuful girls too.But he's since lost it cause of health problems he was facing and this was in college. But beautys in the eye of the beholder.

reply

Agreed. The second she appeared on screen I thought she was beautiful and was rooting for her and Stephen to end up together.

Abby was the more developed character and a far better actress. she's also a total hottie IRL. Cheryl just kinda came out of left field 1/3 of the way into the movie.

I hate to be that guy, but I wish they would stop adapting Barker's work for film. It doesn't translate well at all. The ending of this film undermines the entire theme of the original story. It doesn't make a lick of sense either.

reply

Abby. Even with the birth mark, she was absolutely stunning. Cheryl was very pretty as well though
Characterwise, she's definitely better. Fantastic actress and writing

this film, dread is so good in so many ways, words can't even get close to describing how good dread is. It meant so much to me on an emotional and a how much I liked it level. it's such an emotionally profound film. it's a very powerful film. I enjoyed it and got into it so much. it has integrity which most horror films made nowadays don't have. and it has emotional depth and artistic integrity which you just never find in horror films nowadays. so I give it a very high, almost full recommendation! did you enjoy and appreciate and love it as much as I did?

reply

i agree with you. I actually thought the birth mark was totally attractive, I could never find anything bad looking about it. It was never ugly to me and I thought it actually was beautiful in a different, unique, and artistic way. it made her character unique and special to me. her character was very special. so, you didn't like the birth mark at all? did you find it ugly?

reply

I didn't think it really added or detracted to her appearance at all. Guess I should have made that clear. She was beautiful either way, and a fantastic character as well
