The Rights To Clips
If John didn't approve the documentary how did they acquire the rights to the clips of his movies?
shareEasily. The clips and anything else shot for the film, (like production photos) are owned by the studio(s) and not the director. So the producers just had to contact the individual studios to get clearance for the footage.
