Rating So Low?

I read this huge thread where AD fans were pushing for Paper Heart to fail because they think Michael is not going to participate in the AD film and hate him now. The Paper Hearts movie can't possibly be that bad

reply

I can only hope. Cera's ego is out of control if he thinks he's to good for the AD movie.

From whence it came, huh?

reply

-Fake ratings

-Cera is doing the AD movie.

reply

Where did you hear that? Last I knew, he was the lone holdout.

From whence it came, huh?

It got low ratings because very few people at Sundance liked it. I wanted to see it because it seemed promising, but everyone I talked to who had seen it said it was horrible and boring. I saw it anyway and wish I had gone to another movie instead. I only heard from one person that they thought it was even ok. Plus there was a lot going around about how full of himself Cera has become and about how great he thought his movie was.

reply

Really? OMG. I hope not. If so very few people at Sundance liked it, why did it win an award?

It is a self-indulgent and contrived work of utterly forgettable proportions.
Stay away.

Arrested Development

I thought this movie was excellent.

Anyone who's seen the movie knows it's current 6.3 rating is a VERY generous. The concept of a documentary about the making of a documentary is a horrible cop-out and simply the brain-child of someone whose brain-ovaries dried up and shriveled long ago. The worst part about it though is that charlene isn't very funny, and michael cera is playing up the same awkward teen character I've seen over and over again. It was great in Arrested Development, but seriously I've had enough of it.

Damnit, I really like this movie. I think the interviews are really the heart of the movie. I don't get why people hate it so much. Some of these interviews are very sweet and honest. But maybe it's for the people who are a little more idealistic about their vision of love. Ack, I'm just dumbfounded on the low reviews!! Love is a hard subject to define and this movie is doing its best to try and capture that essence.

Actually, I think the people who don't like this movie probably have a very low attention span.

This movie deserves AT LEAST an 8/10.

just watched this movie now..it really isnt to bad atall,i wasnt too sure for the first 10 mins or so, but really got into the film after that, 6 or 7 out of 10 would be a fair score, but i would definatley reccomend it to friends.

reply

Yes I agree, easily the best parts of the movie were the interviews. The accompanying cardboard animation was quirky and fit well with the film. Unfortunately, that only made for about 15 minutes total. The rest with Michael and Charlyne was painful to watch, their whole storyline was very contrived, predictable, awkward, predictably awkward, and above all didn't make for an interesting storyline.

reply

My thoughts exactly. The two of them started getting annoying and then I wanted to push them into the Atlantic in a cement car.

The main thing that bothered me was that it was about a girl trying to figure out what love is but you never hear her thoughts on it, just her friends and random people. So it was hard feeling like there was any depth to her character.

reply

a 6 is about right, this film is by no means great

Yeah, extremely boring hipster crap. What was that song she wrote? Was that supposed to be good? Catchy? Corky? Yuck, I feel sick just thinking about it. Hopefully they'll stop shoveling out these hipster movies and just stick with the big guns like Little Miss Sunshine which IMO, was awesome!
