Story similar to Ghajini(Hindi [2008] or Tamil [2005])??

Hello,

I just saw the movie y'day and this is almost a copy of the Tamil&Hindi hit Ghajini by Soorya&Aamir. Except from the first half.. if you watch both the movies. It is pretty evident that the story is conceived from a common seed. I am not arguing about the Tamil/Hindi version, but there is a lot of similar scenes in both. The first version in Tamil was reeased in 2005 and the remake in hindi came in 2008 this one in english in 2009.Leaving it to you people to decide...

By that reasoning Ghajani is a "remake" of Memento because they both have amnesia and revenge in them.
But I do suppose that Ghajani and Vengeance got their ideas from Memento.

And Ghajani is 5h1t compared to Vengeance and a lot 5h1tt13r compared to Memento.

This movie like many of To's other films is not really about the plot at all. It comes from a fairly generic mold of a plot. Its To's style and handling of the characters that allows the film to transcend it's relatively mundane source material.

In other words, you may very well be right but in my opinion it doesn't matter.

Just for information...the tamil Gazini has its origins from Memento.

Gazini is a raped version of Memento. The hindi version is an even worse version!!

Anyhow both the above mentioned films were commercial successes!!

Thank you sat_89!!,

Actually we had an argument on the true origin of the Tamil & Hindi copies of the story. I wanted to find out the first version of it.

Memento to download, Thanks a lot!!

Ghajini is not a copy of Memento...give me one scene that the makers of Ghajini copied from Memento, it is undeniable that they copied the character of main protagonist but that's it nothing else. Indian movies do copy from Hollywood and world cinema and they copy alot but you can't just say that about every movie.... Plot and Script are 2 different things...Ghajini took plot of Memento and a new movie was made.
And for your information Indian movies had been copied abroad...one I'd remember is Weekend at Bernie's(1989) copied "Jaane bhi Do Yaaron(1983)"...other could be "Tom Yum Goong (2005)" which copied "Umesh Mehra's Shikari-The Hunter(1991)" a story about a man who travels round the globe to get his stolen elephant back...

You said " why would someone copy from the most wannabee and worst quality cinema in the world??? "

Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge 2001 was a tribute to Indian musicals....

yes Indian films copy...copy like hell but we also create great Cinema.

Obviously you've never really bothered to watch Indian films or you would know that they DO make original films and not just their own unique interpretation of Hollywood films (or just flat-out ripoffs). Hell, Hollywood has remade practically every big-nae Japanese horror film for the last 10 years (THE RING,THE GRUDGE,THE EYE,DARK WATER)so Bollywood isn't the only film business outside the U.S. copying off other films---and no, their films aren't "scum"---that sounds so ignorant on your part.
