'Abandoned Mine?'

That's seriously what they're calling it? Did they just...stop trying to think of a title as soon as they started filming or something? I have this road near my house called "Street Road." And there was a Mountain Dew ripoff brand I saw once that was just called "Mountain." This seems like that. I can only imagine the brainstorming session there. "Hey, what do we call the movie?" "Iunno. What's it about, an abandoned mine? Uh...call it Abandoned Mine, whatever, screw it, pass that joint." I mean, maybe as a working title, but...Jesus.

This was a good little movie. I watched it with my teenage daughter in the theater and had a great time. She's inviting her friends over next weekend to watch it On Demand.

It's really a parody on horror films. The generic title Abandoned Mine, "Happy Valley" is where they live, telling ghost stories around the campfire in front of a haunted mine on Halloween. It's all consciously poking fun at horror films. So if you're looking for actual blood and guts horror, you should pass.

This is intense psychologically with twists and turns - more of a mystery suspense ride that will surprise and keep you off guard up to the end. And the humor from the Ethan character made me laugh out loud. The acting is solid throughout. No weak links.

The characters get themselves into trouble with some dumb choices, but the movie itself is a pretty smart. It's actually about something. It kept us talking in the car all the way home. Worth watching for the right audience.

Really, if you're looking for actual horror AT ALL, you should pass.

This might be a good movie for 10-year-olds, but there is no suspense, no scares, no story--no anything for adults. Plus the character of Ethan is actually pretty racist imo.

I love horror movies, but I'm NOT into the blood and gore, torture porn side of it, so I had high hopes for this movie based on the reviews, but they were dashed completely. Badly filmed, badly acted, and most damning of all, NOT SCARY or believable in the least.

I guess I don't understand your definition of parody, but maybe this is a parody of something good?

I'm just really sorry I spent any money viewing this.

Yeah how many times have you posted this. You're clearly associated with the project. I mean you're speaking complete rubbish. The acting was solid throughout? No weak links?. I doubt you even have a daughter.

And just what would you have titled it? Sometimes a straightforward approach to things is the best way to go about your business, in this case, the title of a film. ABANDONED MINE sure does sound a lot better than THE HAUNTING OF (insert your choice here) or any other number of titles given to films these days.

"In the darkness, everything is clearer than daylight."

No it doesn't.

reply

Yes it does. The movie was crap, but the title was accurate and to the point. Probably the best thing about it.

And at this point if someone says any movie with the term 'The Haunting etc' I can't tell which it is simply because all the titles sound the same. I'm waiting for 'The Haunting of Patricia Rose in Salem, Maine' as the title of a horror movie since they all blend together.

I don't know what I would have called it, since I haven't watched it. That's the thing, though, it sounds like the title was thought up by someone who hasn't watched it either. "Abandoned Mine" sounds like a theme park ride, not a horror movie -- at least, not one made after 1960 or so.

Maybe they could have called DeadpoolX??Naaahhh, that ones lame.

Deadpool what about Halloween and the Exorcist which both turned out to be great films and blockbusters? It's really not that odd.

I thought this was the perfect name for this film. It's about kids/young adults getting a kick out of a cliché, an abandoned mine on a clichéd night, Hallowe'en. I much prefer this than something pretentious like "Lessons to be learned", or "A Twist of Friendship". Maybe "Don't Go Down There".

Abandoned Mine works for me. They could have called it "Ghost Mine," I suppose, if some utterly horrible waste-of-video-space "reality" show wasn't already running under that name.

reply

Ghost Mine the series had been dropped after season 1 finished its run.

Maybe it had something to do with Brad feeling abandoned by everyone or because she abandoned everything..her sister, town boyfriend, friend and in the end herself making mine have double meaning
