I love The Shins and am curious about James Mercer's acting. When does this come out? Fall 09?

Yes, Fall '09.

I am highly interested in seeing James in this as well... could be great... could be a disaster.

I'm really lookinf forward to it. I think he'll do well, but not sure how popular the film will prove.

He's funny. Would fit (fits) right into the Portlandia cast (I think I saw that he's been in there already but I didn't notice earlier).

I guess this is pretty awkwardly cast. I mean, if even James Mercer can be the star... pretty crass.

Have just stumbled upon the movie (will watch it as soon as I can get my hands on it, I don't mind depressing stuff once in a while)...
