WHAT IS SAM RELIGION?

can anyone please tell me this cause throught out the movie there isnt one scene which shows the religion of sam....iam asking cause sameer is both muslim as well a non muslim name...although katz name is maya i suspect they didnt saw their religion while marrying,.
